Boogie Nights an Australian First
On Tuesday the 19th of August,
Music Park and Mesa/Boogie took over Manhattan’s Bar & Café
in Victoria Park, Perth WA for Australia’s first Mesa/Boogie guitar clinic
and product presentation night. An astounding array of Mesa/Boogie guitar
and bass amps were on display, along with information walls and slideshow.
Clinic MC, Graham Greene kicked of the
evening with his Mesa Road King combo, treating the guitar fans present to a
feast of monster tones and fretboard antics. Karina Cass showed that
she could cut it with the boys as she put her Mesa Roadster through its paces
with a set of cool instrumental tunes ranging from rock to jazz.
Gerry Quigley and The Shinkickers
closed musical proceedings in fine rocking style, switching seamlessly from
growling blues songs to searing and lyrical instrumentals. The climax of the
evening was an all-star guitar jam on the classic Hendrix version of All
Along The Watchtower as Karina and Graham joined Gerry (running through
a Mesa Lonestar combo) and band for a
rousing rendition of the song, featuring extended solos and a hilarious
impromptu trade-off section with all three guitarists at their personable
best as they shared the spotlight to rapturous applause for a fitting finale
to a stunning performance.

Resonance Project to
play Power SLAM
Graham's band, Resonance Project, featuring Donna Greene on
vocals, Saxon Smith on second guitar, Jim Awram on bass and
Tommy Ions on drums will be headlining the Power SLAM gig at the
Newport Hotel on 28th September 2008. This show is the band's first full
vocal set since returning from their successful Vietnam tour earlier
in the year.
Guitar Gods Behaving Badly II
Graham will be returning to the
Charles Hotel on November 15th, along with Roots/Soul guru Gerard
Maunick and Celtic Blues Master Gerry Quigley, to present GGBB
II. Keep up to date with all things GGBB by checking the Guitar Gods
Behaving Badly website (see related links) and joining the mailing list.
